Raising your children the right way!
Boxing is seen as a negative sport by some parents because it involves contact. One man punches another to win points and win the fight. But what most parents don’t realize is that boxing can also provide some life lessons for the child. This is especially true when parents guide their children in learning something from watching boxing on television. Here are just some of the things they can learn:
1. Discipline. Boxers know that they must train and practice well before the fight. Because of this, they eat the necessary food, undergo extreme exercises, and get enough sleep. Parents should point out that it takes discipline to become a boxer.
2. Obedience. Boxers listen to their trainers and coaches in order to develop their techniques and become fit. The parents can likewise be the “trainers” for their children by motivating them to study well and get good grades.
3. Patience. It takes patience to win the fight because boxing consist of 12 rounds of fighting. A boxer cannot win with just one round unless his opponent is really not suitable.
4. Humility. In the face of either victory or defeat, the boxer must maintain his humility and acknowledge his opponent. He is aware that he will not always be on top.
Being a parent can be challenging, so on my blog TodaysParent I hope that I will be able to provide some parenting insights from one parent to another.
