No one can deny that parents experience various concerns as their child is growing up. Teenagers can be prone to bad behavior especially when they are not trained well in the early stages of their childhood. For this reason, it is important for parents to see to it that any possible bad behavior can be stopped even before it begins. In other words, they should make their children not want to commit bad behavior.

1.       Be a Benevolent Director

Never make your child feel like they are being strangled because of your over protectiveness. When children feel like their freedom is being curtailed, they turn rebellious. Give them a lot of choices as well; make sure that these choices all have positive outcomes though. But remember that being authoritative is important for the child to know the value of discipline and obedience.

2.       Consistency

It is important for a parent to choose a certain number or rules and stick to these with no exceptions. These rules should never be negotiated on and immediate consequences should be suffered if these are broken. At the same time though, parents should also have some rules that can be open for negotiation.

3.       Know who your child is

Probably the most important aspect is knowing who your child really is because this will enable you to respond accordingly.
