Road safety is one of the first things you need to teach your child once he learns how to walk. Most of the time, children about the age of three can start to understand how to be safe while on the road as long as you teach them the ins and outs of road safety. Practicing crossing the road and teaching them about the red light and the green light at an early age can enable them to get a glimpse of how society works.

Pointing out the reasons why it is never safe to step between parked cars when on the road is essential. It is also important to tell them about which areas are safe for them to play in; areas they should avoid include busy roads and areas near the river. Explain the reasons why some places are safe while some are dangerous.

Have you heard to saying, “don’t talk to strangers” when you were a child? Well, repeat that wise advice to your own children because it is for their own good. Don’t let them talk to people they don’t know and make it clear that it would be dangerous for them to interact with strangers.
