A lot of teens use networking sites to post music, videos, images, thoughts, and comments in any way they want. They can express themselves easily in whatever form; it is for this reason that many teenagers nowadays consider social networking sites their “home”. They want to present themselves the best way possible so they form groups and develop friendship with complete strangers.

Every teen wants to be cool and this motivation is now apparent in social spaces such as MySpace. Here, teens can do whatever they want in their profile and post all the cool pictures they have. It is undeniable that teens nowadays can appear “cooler” than they actually are through these websites.

But if you look deeper into this issue, you will realize that teens just want what every adult needs: validation. However, teens do not have an outlet for this desire because their value can’t be shown on the things they own and the places they travel to unlike adults. Teens are still very much dependent on other people so they want to show what they are worth in some other way. Thus, profile pages such as those found in MySpace gives them a chance to showcase themselves in the best way possible.
