Raising your children the right way!
Teens are at the stage wherein they will experience dramatic growth spurt. This growth will not only involve physical growth but emotional and mental growth as well. Their busier schedules and demanding academic lifestyle will all require them to have a different eating habit compared to when they were still children. It is important for them to get the nutrient they need from their food.
There is also the problem about eating too much in fast food establishment because the menu found in these establishments are usually not enough to meet the nutritional need of teens. Usually, a teen’s diet should consist of food with vitamin A, fibre, calcium, riboflavin, folate, and phytochemicals but fast food would not provide these benefits.
Parents should make it a point to remind their teens to eat healthy and provide good foods when they are at home. Their diet should be balanced with whole grains, fruits, and vegetables so they can get the nutrition they need. It is also recommended for teens to avoid soft drinks and food that has caffeine and too much sugar because these can have adverse impact on their health. Of course, avoiding bad habits such as smoking and drinking is also important to have a healthy teen lifestyle.
