Raising your children the right way!
After high school, there is the question of what college course a person should take. This is a very serious decision that can determine the course of a person’s future. The parent should be there to guide their child because at this point in their lives, most teens are still confused as to which path they need to take. Help them determine the kind of career available to them if they decide to take on a particular course and suggest alternatives. But remember that you should not force them to choose a course they do not really want because it can just cause unhappiness and a waste of time for his part.
It would also help if your teen will write down everything related to choosing a college course including his academic strengths and weaknesses, any award he received, GPA, SAT and ACT scores, and extracurricular activities.
Doing this will give him an idea about the things he is good at and the things he enjoys. It would be best if the course he takes complements his strengths and his personality because the education he receives will make him even more competent in his chosen field of study.
Being a parent can be challenging, so on my blog TodaysParent I hope that I will be able to provide some parenting insights from one parent to another.
